[대하34:1-33, 우리말성경]
1 요시야는 8세에 왕이 됐고 예루살렘에서 31년 동안 다스렸습니다.
2 요시야는 여호와의 눈앞에 올바르게 행동했고 그 조상 다윗의 길을 걸어 좌우로 치우치지 않았습니다.
3 그가 다스린 지 8년째 되던 아직 어릴 때 요시야는 그의 조상 다윗의 하나님을 찾았습니다. 그가 다스리던 12년에 그는 유다와 예루살렘에서 산당과 아세라 상과 조각해 만든 우상들과 부어 만든 형상들을 없앴습니다.
4 요시야 앞에서 백성들이 바알의 제단들을 부수었고 그 위에 있던 분향단들을 산산조각 냈으며 아세라 상과 우상과 새긴 우상들을 깨뜨렸습니다. 요시야는 이것들을 산산조각 내 그것들에 희생제물을 드리던 사람들의 무덤에 뿌렸습니다.
5 요시야는 그 제사장들의 뼈들을 그들의 제단에서 태워 유다와 예루살렘을 깨끗하게 했습니다.

18 그러고 나서 서기관 사반은 왕에게 말했습니다. "제사장 힐기야가 제게 책 한 권을 주었습니다." 그리고 사반은 왕 앞에서 그것을 읽었습니다.
19 왕은 율법책에 있는 말씀을 듣고 자기 옷을 찢었습니다.
20 왕은 제사장 힐기야, 사반의 아들 아히감, 미가의 아들 압돈, 서기관 사반, 왕의 시종 아사야에게 이렇게 명령을 내렸습니다.
21 "너희는 가서 나와 백성들과 온 유다를 위해 지금 발견된 이 책에 기록된 것에 대해 여호와께 여쭤 보라. 우리 조상들이 여호와의 말씀을 지키지 않았기에 우리에게 내린 여호와의 진노가 너무 크다. 우리는 이 책에 기록된 모든 것을 따르지 않았다."

24 '여호와가 말한다. 내가 유다 왕 앞에서 읽힌 그 책에 기록된 모든 재난을 이곳과 그 백성들에게 보내려 한다.
25 그들이 나를 버리고 다른 신들에게 분향해 그들 손으로 만든 모든 우상들로 내 진노를 자아냈으니 내 진노가 이곳에 쏟아져서 꺼지지 않을 것이다.'
26 너희를 보내 여호와께 여쭤 보게 한 유다 왕에게 말하라. '이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 네가 들은 그 말에 관해 말하건대
27 네가 이곳과 백성들에 대해 하나님이 말한 것을 듣고 네 마음이 약해지고 또 네가 하나님 앞에서 겸손해져서 네 옷을 찢고 내 앞에서 통곡했으니 나도 네 말을 듣겠다. 여호와가 말한다.
28 그러므로 내가 너를 네 조상들에게 가게 할 것이고 너는 평화롭게 묻힐 것이다. 너는 내가 이곳과 여기에 사는 사람들에게 내릴 그 모든 재앙을 보지 않을 것이다.'" 그들은 그 대답을 왕에게 전했습니다.
29 왕은 유다와 예루살렘의 모든 장로들을 불렀습니다.
30 그는 유다 사람들과 예루살렘 사람들과 제사장들과 레위 사람, 곧 크고 작은 모든 백성들을 데리고 여호와의 성전으로 올라갔습니다. 그는 여호와의 성전에서 발견된 그 언약책의 모든 말씀을 크게 읽어 들려주었습니다.
31 왕은 기둥에 기대서서 여호와 앞에서 그 언약을 새롭게 세워 여호와를 따르고 그분의 계명과 증거와 규례를 온 마음과 온 영혼을 다해 지키고 이 책에 기록된 그 언약의 말씀에 순종하기로 했습니다.

[2 Chronicles 34:1-33, NLT]
1 Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem thirty-one years.
2 He did what was pleasing in the LORD's sight and followed the example of his ancestor David. He did not turn away from doing what was right.
3 During the eighth year of his reign, while he was still young, Josiah began to seek the God of his ancestor David. Then in the twelfth year he began to purify Judah and Jerusalem, destroying all the pagan shrines, the Asherah poles, and the carved idols and cast images.
4 He ordered that the altars of Baal be demolished and that the incense altars which stood above them be broken down. He also made sure that the Asherah poles, the carved idols, and the cast images were smashed and scattered over the graves of those who had sacrificed to them.
5 He burned the bones of the pagan priests on their own altars, and so he purified Judah and Jerusalem.
6 He did the same thing in the towns of Manasseh, Ephraim, and Simeon, even as far as Naphtali, and in the regions all around them.
7 He destroyed the pagan altars and the Asherah poles, and he crushed the idols into dust. He cut down all the incense altars throughout the land of Israel. Finally, he returned to Jerusalem.
8 In the eighteenth year of his reign, after he had purified the land and the Temple, Josiah appointed Shaphan son of Azaliah, Maaseiah the governor of Jerusalem, and Joah son of Joahaz, the royal historian, to repair the Temple of the LORD his God.
9 They gave Hilkiah the high priest the money that had been collected by the Levites who served as gatekeepers at the Temple of God. The gifts were brought by people from Manasseh, Ephraim, and from all the remnant of Israel, as well as from all Judah, Benjamin, and the people of Jerusalem.
10 He entrusted the money to the men assigned to supervise the restoration of the LORD's Temple. Then they paid the workers who did the repairs and renovation of the Temple.
11 They hired carpenters and builders, who purchased finished stone for the walls and timber for the rafters and beams. They restored what earlier kings of Judah had allowed to fall into ruin.
12 The workers served faithfully under the leadership of Jahath and Obadiah, Levites of the Merarite clan, and Zechariah and Meshullam, Levites of the Kohathite clan. Other Levites, all of whom were skilled musicians,
13 were put in charge of the laborers of the various trades. Still others assisted as secretaries, officials, and gatekeepers.
14 While they were bringing out the money collected at the LORD's Temple, Hilkiah the priest found the Book of the Law of the LORD that was written by Moses.
15 Hilkiah said to Shaphan the court secretary, "I have found the Book of the Law in the LORD's Temple!" Then Hilkiah gave the scroll to Shaphan.
16 Shaphan took the scroll to the king and reported, "Your officials are doing everything they were assigned to do.
17 The money that was collected at the Temple of the LORD has been turned over to the supervisors and workmen."
18 Shaphan also told the king, "Hilkiah the priest has given me a scroll." So Shaphan read it to the king.
19 When the king heard what was written in the Law, he tore his clothes in despair.
20 Then he gave these orders to Hilkiah, Ahikam son of Shaphan, Acbor son of Micaiah, Shaphan the court secretary, and Asaiah the king's personal adviser:
21 "Go to the Temple and speak to the LORD for me and for all the remnant of Israel and Judah. Inquire about the words written in the scroll that has been found. For the LORD's great anger has been poured out on us because our ancestors have not obeyed the word of the LORD. We have not been doing everything this scroll says we must do."
22 So Hilkiah and the other men went to the New Quarter of Jerusalem to consult with the prophet Huldah. She was the wife of Shallum son of Tikvah, son of Harhas, the keeper of the Temple wardrobe.
23 She said to them, "The LORD, the God of Israel, has spoken! Go back and tell the man who sent you,
24 'This is what the LORD says: I am going to bring disaster on this city and its people. All the curses written in the scroll that was read to the king of Judah will come true.
25 For my people have abandoned me and offered sacrifices to pagan gods, and I am very angry with them for everything they have done. My anger will be poured out on this place, and it will not be quenched.'
26 "But go to the king of Judah who sent you to seek the LORD and tell him: 'This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says concerning the message you have just heard:
27 You were sorry and humbled yourself before God when you heard his words against this city and its people. You humbled yourself and tore your clothing in despair and wept before me in repentance. And I have indeed heard you, says the LORD.
28 So I will not send the promised disaster until after you have died and been buried in peace. You yourself will not see the disaster I am going to bring on this city and its people.'"
So they took her message back to the king.
29 Then the king summoned all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.
30 And the king went up to the Temple of the LORD with all the people of Judah and Jerusalem, along with the priests and the Levites—all the people from the greatest to the least. There the king read to them the entire Book of the Covenant that had been found in the LORD's Temple.
31 The king took his place of authority beside the pillar and renewed the covenant in the LORD's presence. He pledged to obey the LORD by keeping all his commands, laws, and decrees with all his heart and soul. He promised to obey all the terms of the covenant that were written in the scroll.
32 And he required everyone in Jerusalem and the people of Benjamin to make a similar pledge. The people of Jerusalem did so, renewing their covenant with God, the God of their ancestors.
33 So Josiah removed all detestable idols from the entire land of Israel and required everyone to worship the LORD their God. And throughout the rest of his lifetime, they did not turn away from the LORD, the God of their ancestors.

1 요시야는 예루살렘에서 유월절을 지켰습니다. 첫째 달 14일에 유월절 양을 잡았습니다.
2 요시야는 제사장들에게 일을 맡기고 여호와의 성전에서 일하는 그들을 격려했습니다.
3 그가 온 이스라엘을 가르치고 여호와께 자신을 거룩하게 구별했던 그 레위 사람들에게 말했습니다. "이스라엘 왕 다윗의 아들인 솔로몬이 지은 성전에 거룩한 궤를 두라. 그것을 다시는 너희 어깨에 메어 옮기지 말라. 마땅히 너희 하나님 여호와와 그분의 백성 이스라엘을 섬기라.
4 이스라엘 왕 다윗과 그 아들 솔로몬의 글을 따라 너희 족속의 순서대로 스스로 준비하라.

8 그의 신하들도 스스로 백성들과 제사장들과 레위 사람들에게 바쳤습니다. 하나님의 성전을 섬기는 힐기야, 스가랴, 여히엘은 제사장들에게 유월절 양 2,600마리와 수소 300마리를 내주었습니다.
9 또한 레위 사람들의 지도자들인 고나냐와 그 형제들인 스마야와 느다넬, 또 하사뱌, 여이엘, 요사밧은 유월절 제물로 양 5,000마리와 소 500마리를 레위 사람들에게 주었습니다.

22 그러나 요시야는 물러나기를 싫어하고 그와 싸우기 위해 변장했습니다. 요시야는 느고가 하나님의 명령으로 한 말을 듣지 않고 그와 싸우러 므깃도 평지로 나갔습니다.
23 싸우는 가운데 활 쏘는 사람들이 요시야 왕을 쏘아 맞혔습니다. 요시야는 자기 신하에게 말했습니다. "내가 많이 다쳤으니 나를 데려가라."
24 신하들은 왕의 전차에 있던 요시야를 다른 전차에 옮겨 태우고 예루살렘으로 모셔 왔지만 요시야는 예루살렘에 이른 후에 죽었습니다. 요시야는 자기 조상들의 무덤에 묻혔고 온 유다와 예루살렘이 그를 위해 슬퍼했습니다.

[2 Chronicles 35:1-27, NLT]
1 Then Josiah announced that the Passover of the LORD would be celebrated in Jerusalem, and so the Passover lamb was slaughtered on the fourteenth day of the first month.
2 Josiah also assigned the priests to their duties and encouraged them in their work at the Temple of the LORD.
3 He issued this order to the Levites, who were to teach all Israel and who had been set apart to serve the LORD: "Put the holy Ark in the Temple that was built by Solomon son of David, the king of Israel. You no longer need to carry it back and forth on your shoulders. Now spend your time serving the LORD your God and his people Israel.
4 Report for duty according to the family divisions of your ancestors, following the directions of King David of Israel and the directions of his son Solomon.
5 "Then stand in the sanctuary at the place appointed for your family division and help the families assigned to you as they bring their offerings to the Temple.
6 Slaughter the Passover lambs, purify yourselves, and prepare to help those who come. Follow all the directions that the LORD gave through Moses."
7 Then Josiah provided 30,000 lambs and young goats for the people's Passover offerings, along with 3,000 cattle, all from the king's own flocks and herds.
8 The king's officials also made willing contributions to the people, priests, and Levites. Hilkiah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, the administrators of God's Temple, gave the priests 2,600 lambs and young goats and 300 cattle as Passover offerings.
9 The Levite leaders—Conaniah and his brothers Shemaiah and Nethanel, as well as Hashabiah, Jeiel, and Jozabad—gave 5,000 lambs and young goats and 500 cattle to the Levites for their Passover offerings.
10 When everything was ready for the Passover celebration, the priests and the Levites took their places, organized by their divisions, as the king had commanded.
11 The Levites then slaughtered the Passover lambs and presented the blood to the priests, who sprinkled the blood on the altar while the Levites prepared the animals.
12 They divided the burnt offerings among the people by their family groups, so they could offer them to the LORD as prescribed in the Book of Moses. They did the same with the cattle.
13 Then they roasted the Passover lambs as prescribed; and they boiled the holy offerings in pots, kettles, and pans, and brought them out quickly so the people could eat them.
14 Afterward the Levites prepared Passover offerings for themselves and for the priests—the descendants of Aaron—because the priests had been busy from morning till night offering the burnt offerings and the fat portions. The Levites took responsibility for all these preparations.
15 The musicians, descendants of Asaph, were in their assigned places, following the commands that had been given by David, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun, the king's seer. The gatekeepers guarded the gates and did not need to leave their posts of duty, for their Passover offerings were prepared for them by their fellow Levites.
16 The entire ceremony for the LORD's Passover was completed that day. All the burnt offerings were sacrificed on the altar of the LORD, as King Josiah had commanded.
17 All the Israelites present in Jerusalem celebrated Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread for seven days.
18 Never since the time of the prophet Samuel had there been such a Passover. None of the kings of Israel had ever kept a Passover as Josiah did, involving all the priests and Levites, all the people of Jerusalem, and people from all over Judah and Israel.
19 This Passover was celebrated in the eighteenth year of Josiah's reign.
20 After Josiah had finished restoring the Temple, King Neco of Egypt led his army up from Egypt to do battle at Carchemish on the Euphrates River, and Josiah and his army marched out to fight him.
21 But King Neco sent messengers to Josiah with this message:
"What do you want with me, king of Judah? I have no quarrel with you today! I am on my way to fight another nation, and God has told me to hurry! Do not interfere with God, who is with me, or he will destroy you."
22 But Josiah refused to listen to Neco, to whom God had indeed spoken, and he would not turn back. Instead, he disguised himself and led his army into battle on the plain of Megiddo.
23 But the enemy archers hit King Josiah with their arrows and wounded him. He cried out to his men, "Take me from the battle, for I am badly wounded!"
24 So they lifted Josiah out of his chariot and placed him in another chariot. Then they brought him back to Jerusalem, where he died. He was buried there in the royal cemetery. And all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for him.
25 The prophet Jeremiah composed funeral songs for Josiah, and to this day choirs still sing these sad songs about his death. These songs of sorrow have become a tradition and are recorded in The Book of Laments.
26 The rest of the events of Josiah's reign and his acts of devotion (carried out according to what was written in the Law of the LORD),
27 from beginning to end—all are recorded in The Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.

1 그 땅의 사람들이 요시야의 아들 여호아하스를 데려다가 그 아버지의 뒤를 이어 예루살렘에서 왕으로 삼았습니다.
2 여호아하스는 23세에 왕이 됐고 예루살렘에서 3개월 동안 다스렸습니다.
3 이집트 왕이 그를 예루살렘의 왕의 자리에서 쫓아냈습니다. 그리고 유다로 하여금 은 100달란트와 금 1달란트를 바치게 했습니다.
4 이집트 왕은 여호아하스의 형제인 엘리아김을 유다와 예루살렘을 다스릴 왕으로 세웠고 엘리아김의 이름을 여호야김으로 바꿨습니다. 그러나 느고는 엘리아김의 형제인 여호아하스를 이집트로 데려갔습니다.

12 시드기야는 하나님 여호와의 눈앞에서 악한 일을 저질렀고 예언자 예레미야가 여호와의 말씀을 전했으나 겸손하게 듣지 않았습니다.
13 느부갓네살 왕은 그로 하여금 하나님의 이름으로 충성을 맹세하도록 했는데 왕은 느부갓네살에게 반항했습니다. 그는 목이 곧고 마음을 굳게 해 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께 돌아오지 않았습니다.
14 제사장들의 모든 지도자들과 백성들도 저 민족들의 모든 역겨운 일들을 따라 했습니다. 그들은 여호와께서 예루살렘에서 거룩하게 구별하신 여호와의 성전을 더럽히면서 더욱 죄를 범했습니다.
15 그들의 조상들의 하나님 여호와께서 그분의 예언자들을 보내 계속 말씀하셨습니다. 이는 그분이 그분의 백성들과 그분이 택하신 곳을 불쌍히 여기셨기 때문입니다.
16 그러나 그들은 하나님께서 보낸 예언자들을 조롱하고 그들의 말을 무시했으며 그분의 예언자들을 비웃었습니다. 마침내 여호와의 진노가 그분의 백성들을 향해 일어났고 전혀 돌이킬 길이 없게 됐습니다.
17 그분은 그들을 바벨론 왕의 손에 붙이셨습니다. 바벨론 사람들이 와서 성소에서 젊은 사람들을 칼로 죽였습니다. 젊은 남자나 여자, 약한 사람이나 건강한 사람을 가리지 않고 죽였습니다. 하나님께서는 그들을 모두 느부갓네살에게 넘겨주셨습니다.
18 느부갓네살은 하나님의 성전에서 크고 작은 모든 물건과 여호와의 성전에 있는 보물과 왕과 신하들의 보물들을 바벨론으로 가져갔습니다.
19 그들은 하나님의 성전에 불을 지르고 예루살렘 성벽을 무너뜨렸습니다. 그들은 모든 왕궁과 거기 있는 모든 값진 것을 부숴 버렸습니다.
20 느부갓네살의 칼을 피해 살아남은 사람들은 바벨론으로 끌려갔고 거기서 느부갓네살 왕과 그의 아들들의 종이 됐습니다. 페르시아 제국이 바벨론을 물리칠 때까지 그렇게 살았습니다.
21 예레미야를 통해 하신 여호와의 말씀이 이루어져 땅이 안식년을 누림같이 70년 동안 황폐했습니다.
22 페르시아 왕 고레스 1년에 여호와께서 예레미야를 통해 하신 말씀을 이루셨습니다. 여호와께서 페르시아 왕 고레스의 마음을 감동시키시니, 그가 나라 온 지역에 칙령을 내려 이렇게 널리 알렸습니다.
23 "페르시아 왕 고레스는 말한다. '하늘의 하나님 여호와께서 세상의 모든 나라들을 내게 주셨다. 하나님께서 나를 세우셔서 유다의 예루살렘에 성전을 짓게 하셨다. 이제 너희 가운데 하나님의 백성인 사람은 누구나 다 예루살렘으로 돌아가도록 하라. 하나님 여호와께서 너희와 함께하실 것이다.'"

1 Then the people of the land took Josiah's son Jehoahaz and made him the next king in Jerusalem.
2 Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months.
3 Then he was deposed by the king of Egypt, who demanded that Judah pay 7,500 pounds of silver and 75 pounds of gold as tribute.
4 The king of Egypt then installed Eliakim, the brother of Jehoahaz, as the next king of Judah and Jerusalem, and he changed Eliakim's name to Jehoiakim. Then Neco took Jehoahaz to Egypt as a prisoner.
5 Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. He did what was evil in the sight of the LORD his God.
6 Then King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon came to Jerusalem and captured it, and he bound Jehoiakim in bronze chains and led him away to Babylon.
7 Nebuchadnezzar also took some of the treasures from the Temple of the LORD, and he placed them in his palace in Babylon.
8 The rest of the events in Jehoiakim's reign, including all the evil things he did and everything found against him, are recorded in The Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah. Then his son Jehoiachin became the next king.
9 Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months and ten days. Jehoiachin did what was evil in the LORD's sight.
10 In the spring of the year King Nebuchadnezzar took Jehoiachin to Babylon. Many treasures from the Temple of the LORD were also taken to Babylon at that time. And Nebuchadnezzar installed Jehoiachin's uncle, Zedekiah, as the next king in Judah and Jerusalem.
11 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years.
12 But Zedekiah did what was evil in the sight of the LORD his God, and he refused to humble himself when the prophet Jeremiah spoke to him directly from the LORD.
13 He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, even though he had taken an oath of loyalty in God's name. Zedekiah was a hard and stubborn man, refusing to turn to the LORD, the God of Israel.
14 Likewise, all the leaders of the priests and the people became more and more unfaithful. They followed all the pagan practices of the surrounding nations, desecrating the Temple of the LORD that had been consecrated in Jerusalem.
15 The LORD, the God of their ancestors, repeatedly sent his prophets to warn them, for he had compassion on his people and his Temple.
16 But the people mocked these messengers of God and despised their words. They scoffed at the prophets until the LORD's anger could no longer be restrained and nothing could be done.
17 So the LORD brought the king of Babylon against them. The Babylonians killed Judah's young men, even chasing after them into the Temple. They had no pity on the people, killing both young men and young women, the old and the infirm. God handed all of them over to Nebuchadnezzar.
18 The king took home to Babylon all the articles, large and small, used in the Temple of God, and the treasures from both the LORD's Temple and from the palace of the king and his officials.
19 Then his army burned the Temple of God, tore down the walls of Jerusalem, burned all the palaces, and completely destroyed everything of value.
20 The few who survived were taken as exiles to Babylon, and they became servants to the king and his sons until the kingdom of Persia came to power.
21 So the message of the LORD spoken through Jeremiah was fulfilled. The land finally enjoyed its Sabbath rest, lying desolate until the seventy years were fulfilled, just as the prophet had said.
22 In the first year of King Cyrus of Persia, the LORD fulfilled the prophecy he had given through Jeremiah. He stirred the heart of Cyrus to put this proclamation in writing and to send it throughout his kingdom:
23 "This is what King Cyrus of Persia says:
"The LORD, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth. He has appointed me to build him a Temple at Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Any of you who are his people may go there for this task. And may the LORD your God be with you!"





요시야 왕은 할아버지 므낫세 왕이 망쳐버린 나라를 회복하기 위해 고군분투합니다. 역대기에는 그가 왕위에 오른 8세 때부터 26세 때까지 신앙 개혁 을 이룬 일들이 기록되어 있습니다. 요시야가 16세 때 다윗의 하나님을 비로소 찾았다는 것은 다윗의 길로 걸으며 하나님의 뜻대로 살아갔다는 표현입니다. 그는 20세 때 우상들을 제거하며 바알의 제단을 헐었고, 26세 때에는 성전에서 율법책을 발견하며 신앙 개혁을 이루어냈습니다.
요시야가 이렇게까지 생애 전체를 통해 반복해 개혁해야 했던 이유는 므낫세가 55년 동안 통치하며 만들어놓은 우상숭배의 영향력이 그만큼 컸다는 것입니다. 한 번 해서 사라지지 않고 백성들이 다시 우상숭배로 나아갔다는 방증입니다. 그래서 요시야는 반복해서 개혁해야만 했습니다. 상심되고 실망스러웠을 수도 있지만, 멈추지 않고 개혁해 나갔습니다. 우리 신앙의 삶도 동일합니다. 한 번으로 끝내지 못할 수 있습니다. 계속해서 반복해 주님의 뜻을 구하고, 잘못된 것을 끊고 결단하며 개혁으로 나아가야 합니다.

역대기는 요시야 왕의 신앙 개혁을 시간의 흐름에 따라 기록합니다.

한 번 실패했다고 좌절하지 않고, 다시 일어나 하나님의 뜻을 이루도록 힘을 더해주세요. 하나님의 뜻을 날마다 묵상하며 우리의 잘못된 삶을 바꾸어 나가는 신실한 사람이 되겠습니다.
