[겔1:1-28, 우리말성경]
1 30년째 되는 해 넷째 달 5일에 내가 그발 강 가에서 포로들 가운데 있는데 하늘이 열려 하나님의 환상을 보았다.
2 그때는 여호야긴 왕이 포로로 잡혀간 지 5년째 되던 해로 그달 5일에
3 갈대아 사람의 땅 그발 강 가에 있던 부시의 아들이며 제사장인 에스겔에게 여호와의 말씀이 임했다. 그곳에서 여호와의 손이 에스겔 위에 있었다.
4 내가 보니 북쪽에서 폭풍이 불고 있었다. 큰 구름과 번쩍거리는 불, 그 주위에는 광채가 있었고 광채의 중앙은 불 가운데로부터 오는 황갈색 빛과 같았다.
5 거기에 살아 있는 네 생물의 모습이 있었는데 그들의 생김새는 사람의 모습이었다.
6 네 생물은 각각 네 개의 얼굴과 네 개의 날개를 가지고 있었다.
7 네 생물의 다리는 일직선이었고 그들의 발은 송아지 발 같았으며 광낸 청동색같이 빛났다.
8 사방에 달린 그들의 날개 아래에는 사람의 손들이 달려 있었다. 네 생물들에게는 각각 얼굴과 날개들이 있었는데
9 그들의 날개들은 서로 닿아 있었다. 그들이 움직일 때는 뒤돌지 않고 각자 자기 앞으로만 곧장 갔다.
10 그들의 얼굴 생김새로 말하자면 그 네 생물들은 사람의 얼굴을 갖고 있는데 오른쪽은 사자 얼굴, 왼쪽은 황소 얼굴, 뒤쪽은 독수리 얼굴을 갖고 있었다.
11 그들의 얼굴은 이렇게 생겼다. 그들의 날개는 위로 펼쳐져 있는데 각각 두 날개는 다른 생물과 서로 닿아 있고 다른 두 날개는 자기의 몸통을 덮고 있었다.
12 각 생물은 앞으로만 곧장 나아갔다. 영이 가는 곳마다 그들이 갔는데 가면서 몸을 돌리지 않았다.
13 그 생물들의 생김새는 불타는 석탄 같은 모양이기도 하고 횃불 모양 같기도 했다. 생물들 사이에서 불이 앞뒤로 왔다 갔다 했다. 불은 밝았고 불 속에서 번개가 나왔다.
14 생물들이 번개 모양처럼 앞뒤로 왔다 갔다 했다.
15 내가 그 생물들을 보니 네 얼굴을 가진 각각의 생물들 옆 땅 위에 바퀴가 하나씩 있었다.
16 그 바퀴들의 모양과 구조는 황옥이 빛나는 것 같고 네 개 모두 똑같이 생겼다. 그들의 모양과 구조는 바퀴 안에 바퀴가 있는 것처럼 생겼다.
17 바퀴들은 움직일 때 네 방향 가운데 어느 한 방향으로 움직였다. 그들은 나아가면서 옆으로 방향을 돌이키지 않았다.
18 그들 바퀴의 둘레는 높고 놀랍게 생겼다. 바퀴 네 개가 다 그 둘레에 눈들이 가득 달려 있었다.
19 생물들이 움직이면 바퀴들도 그 옆에서 움직였고 생물들이 땅에서 들어 올려지면 바퀴들도 들어 올려졌다.
20 어디든지 영이 가려고 하면 생물들도 그곳에 갔고 바퀴들도 생물들을 따라 들어 올려졌다. 생물들의 영이 바퀴에 있었기 때문이다.
21 생물들이 움직이면 바퀴들도 움직이고 생물들이 서면 바퀴들도 섰다. 생물들이 땅에서 들어 올려지면 바퀴들도 따라서 들어 올려졌다. 생물들의 영이 바퀴들에 있었기 때문이다.
22 생물들의 머리 위로는 창공같이 생긴 것이 펼쳐져 있었는데 그것은 수정 같은 색깔을 띠었고 놀라울 따름이었다.
23 창공 아래에는 그들의 날개가 서로를 향해 똑바로 펼쳐져 있었다. 각 생물은 두 날개를 갖고 있었는데 하나로는 자기 몸통의 한쪽을, 다른 하나로는 다른 한쪽을 덮고 있었다.
24 생물들이 움직일 때 그들의 날갯소리를 내가 들으니 많은 물소리 같기도 하고, '전능한 분'의 목소리 같기도 하고 함성, 곧 군대의 소리 같기도 했다. 생물들이 가만히 서 있을 때는 그들의 날개를 내렸다.
25 생물들의 머리 위 천장 위쪽으로부터 한 소리가 들려왔다. 그들은 서 있을 때 그들의 날개를 내렸다.
26 그들의 머리 위 천장 위에는 사파이어 보석같이 생긴 보좌 모양이 있었고 그 보좌 모양 위에 사람의 모습 같은 형상이 높이 있었다.
27 내가 그의 허리로 보이는 부분에서 위쪽으로 올려다보니 그 안쪽 사방에는 반짝이는 금속이 불의 모양을 하고 있었다. 그의 허리로 보이는 부분에서 아래쪽으로 내려다보니 불의 모양이 있었고 그의 주변이 밝게 빛났다.
28 비 오는 날 구름 속에 있는 무지개의 모습과 같이 그의 주변이 그렇게 밝게 빛났다. 이는 여호와의 영광의 형상의 모습이었다. 나는 그것을 보고 얼굴을 땅에 대고 엎드렸다. 그러자 말하는 이의 목소리가 내게 들렸다.

[Ezekiel 1:1-28, NLT]
1 On July 31 of my thirtieth year, while I was with the Judean exiles beside the Kebar River in Babylon, the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God.
2 This happened during the fifth year of King Jehoiachin's captivity.
3 (The LORD gave this message to Ezekiel son of Buzi, a priest, beside the Kebar River in the land of the Babylonians, and he felt the hand of the LORD take hold of him.)
4 As I looked, I saw a great storm coming from the north, driving before it a huge cloud that flashed with lightning and shone with brilliant light. There was fire inside the cloud, and in the middle of the fire glowed something like gleaming amber.
5 From the center of the cloud came four living beings that looked human,
6 except that each had four faces and four wings.
7 Their legs were straight, and their feet had hooves like those of a calf and shone like burnished bronze.
8 Under each of their four wings I could see human hands. So each of the four beings had four faces and four wings.
9 The wings of each living being touched the wings of the beings beside it. Each one moved straight forward in any direction without turning around.
10 Each had a human face in the front, the face of a lion on the right side, the face of an ox on the left side, and the face of an eagle at the back.
11 Each had two pairs of outstretched wings—one pair stretched out to touch the wings of the living beings on either side of it, and the other pair covered its body.
12 They went in whatever direction the spirit chose, and they moved straight forward in any direction without turning around.
13 The living beings looked like bright coals of fire or brilliant torches, and lightning seemed to flash back and forth among them.
14 And the living beings darted to and fro like flashes of lightning.
15 As I looked at these beings, I saw four wheels touching the ground beside them, one wheel belonging to each.
16 The wheels sparkled as if made of beryl. All four wheels looked alike and were made the same; each wheel had a second wheel turning crosswise within it.
17 The beings could move in any of the four directions they faced, without turning as they moved.
18 The rims of the four wheels were tall and frightening, and they were covered with eyes all around.
19 When the living beings moved, the wheels moved with them. When they flew upward, the wheels went up, too.
20 The spirit of the living beings was in the wheels. So wherever the spirit went, the wheels and the living beings also went.
21 When the beings moved, the wheels moved. When the beings stopped, the wheels stopped. When the beings flew upward, the wheels rose up, for the spirit of the living beings was in the wheels.
22 Spread out above them was a surface like the sky, glittering like crystal.
23 Beneath this surface the wings of each living being stretched out to touch the others' wings, and each had two wings covering its body.
24 As they flew, their wings sounded to me like waves crashing against the shore or like the voice of the Almighty or like the shouting of a mighty army. When they stopped, they let down their wings.
25 As they stood with wings lowered, a voice spoke from beyond the crystal surface above them.
26 Above this surface was something that looked like a throne made of blue lapis lazuli. And on this throne high above was a figure whose appearance resembled a man.
27 From what appeared to be his waist up, he looked like gleaming amber, flickering like a fire. And from his waist down, he looked like a burning flame, shining with splendor.
28 All around him was a glowing halo, like a rainbow shining in the clouds on a rainy day. This is what the glory of the LORD looked like to me. When I saw it, I fell face down on the ground, and I heard someone's voice speaking to me.

1 그분이 내게 말씀하셨다. "사람아, 일어서라. 내가 네게 말할 것이다."
2 그분이 내게 말씀하실 때 영이 내게 들어와 나를 일으켜 세우셨다. 그리고 그분이 내게 말씀하시는 것을 나는 들었다.
3 그분이 내게 말씀하셨다. "사람아, 내가 너를 이스라엘 자손들에게, 나를 반역한 패역의 민족에게 보낼 것이다. 그들과 그 조상들은 바로 오늘날까지도 내게 죄악을 저지르고 있다.
4 그들은 뻔뻔스럽고 고집 센 백성이다. 내가 너를 그들에게 보내니 너는 그들에게 말하여라. '주 여호와가 이렇게 말한다.'
5 그들은 반역하는 족속이니 그들이 듣든 듣지 않든 예언자가 그들 가운데 있음을 그들이 알 것이다.
6 그리고 너 사람아, 찔레와 가시가 너와 함께 있고 네가 전갈들 가운데 살더라도 네가 그들을 두려워하지 말고 그들의 말도 두려워하지 마라. 비록 그들이 반역하는 족속이나 그들의 말을 두려워하지도 말고 그들에게 겁먹지도 마라.
7 그들은 반역하는 사람들이니 그들이 듣든 듣지 않든 너는 내 말을 그들에게 전하여라.
8 그러나 너 사람아, 너는 내가 네게 하는 말을 듣고 저 반역하는 집처럼 반역하지 마라. 네 입을 벌려 내가 네게 주는 것을 먹어라."
9 그리고 내가 보니 한 손이 내게 뻗쳐 오는 것이었다. 그 손에는 두루마리 책이 있었다.
10 그분이 그것을 내 앞에 펼치시니 그 앞뒷면에 글이 있었는데 여기에 슬픔과 탄식과 재앙이 기록돼 있었다.

[Ezekiel 2:1-10, NLT]
1 "Stand up, son of man," said the voice. "I want to speak with you."
2 The Spirit came into me as he spoke, and he set me on my feet. I listened carefully to his words.
3 "Son of man," he said, "I am sending you to the nation of Israel, a rebellious nation that has rebelled against me. They and their ancestors have been rebelling against me to this very day.
4 They are a stubborn and hard-hearted people. But I am sending you to say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says!'
5 And whether they listen or refuse to listen—for remember, they are rebels—at least they will know they have had a prophet among them.
6 "Son of man, do not fear them or their words. Don't be afraid even though their threats surround you like nettles and briers and stinging scorpions. Do not be dismayed by their dark scowls, even though they are rebels.
7 You must give them my messages whether they listen or not. But they won't listen, for they are completely rebellious!
8 Son of man, listen to what I say to you. Do not join them in their rebellion. Open your mouth, and eat what I give you."
9 Then I looked and saw a hand reaching out to me. It held a scroll,
10 which he unrolled. And I saw that both sides were covered with funeral songs, words of sorrow, and pronouncements of doom.





[겔3:1-27, 우리말성경]
1 그분이 내게 말씀하셨다. "사람아, 네가 보고 있는 그것을 먹어라. 이 두루마리를 먹고 이스라엘 족속에게 가서 말하여라."
2 내가 입을 벌리자 그분이 내게 이 두루마리를 먹이셨다.
3 그리고 내게 말씀하셨다. "사람아, 내가 네게 주는 이 두루마리로 네 배를 채우고 네 내장을 가득 채워라." 그래서 내가 그것을 먹었는데 그것은 내 입에 꿀처럼 달콤했다.
4 그러자 그분께서 내게 말씀하셨다. "사람아, 이스라엘 족속에게로 가서 그들에게 내 말을 전하여라.
5 너를 낯선 언어와 어려운 말을 하는 민족에게 보내는 것이 아니고 이스라엘 족속에게 보내는 것이다.
6 네가 알아들을 수 없는 낯선 언어와 어려운 말을 하는 많은 민족들에게 보내는 것이 아니다. 내가 너를 그들에게 보냈다면 그들은 분명 네 말에 귀 기울였을 것이다.
7 그러나 이스라엘 족속은 네 말에 기꺼이 귀 기울이려고 하지 않을 것이다. 그들이 내 말에 기꺼이 귀 기울이려고 하지 않기 때문이다. 이스라엘 족속 모두가 뻔뻔스럽고 고집이 세기 때문이다.
8 그러나 내가 네 얼굴을 그들의 얼굴에 맞서 강하게 했고 네 이마를 그들의 이마에 맞서 강하게 했다.
9 내가 네 이마를 조약돌보다 단단한 부싯돌처럼 만들었으니 비록 그들이 반역하는 족속이나 그들을 두려워하지도 말고 그들에게 겁먹지도 마라."
10 그리고 그분이 내게 말씀하셨다. "사람아, 내가 네게 말하는 모든 말을 네 마음으로 받아들이고 네 귀로 들어라.
11 그리고 포로가 된 네 민족의 자손들에게 가서 그들에게 말하여라. 그들이 듣든 듣지 않든 그들에게 말하여라. '주 여호와가 이렇게 말한다.'"
12 그러자 영이 나를 들어 올리셨고 내 뒤에서 나는 큰 진동 소리를 내가 들었다. "여호와의 거처에서 여호와의 영광을 찬양하여라!"
13 생물들의 날개들이 서로 접촉해 나는 소리와 그 옆의 바퀴들 소리와 큰 진동 소리였다.
14 여호와의 영이 나를 들어 올려 데려가실 때 내 영이 비통했고 나는 분노했다. 그러자 여호와의 손이 강하게 나를 붙들어 주셨다.
15 그리하여 나는 그발 강 가 델아빕에 살고 있는 포로들에게 갔다. 그리고 그들이 살고 있는 곳, 그곳에서 내가 7일 동안 놀란 상태로 그들 가운데 머물러 있었다.
16 7일이 지난 후에 여호와의 말씀이 내게 임해 말씀하셨다.
17 "사람아, 이스라엘의 집을 위해 내가 너를 파수꾼으로 삼았다. 그러니 내 입에서 나오는 말을 듣고 내 경고를 그들에게 전하여라.
18 내가 악한 사람에게 '네가 반드시 죽을 것이다'라고 말했는데 네가 그에게 깨우쳐 주지 않거나 또는 악한 사람이 자기의 악한 길에서 떠나 생명을 유지할 수 있도록 네가 경고하지 않으면 그 악한 사람은 자기 죄로 인해 죽을 것이고 내가 그의 피에 대해 네게 책임을 추궁할 것이다.
19 그러나 네가 그 악한 사람에게 경고했는데도 그가 그 사악함이나 악한 길에서 돌아오지 않으면 그는 자기 죄로 인해 죽게 될 것이고 너는 네 목숨을 구할 것이다.
20 또한 의로운 사람이 그의 의로움에서 돌이켜 불의를 행하면 내가 그 앞에 장애물을 두어 그가 걸려 넘어져 죽게 될 것이다. 네가 그에게 경고하지 않았기 때문에 그는 자기의 죄로 인해서 죽게 될 것이다. 그가 행한 의로움은 기억되지 않을 것이며 내가 그의 피에 대해 네게 책임을 추궁할 것이다.
21 그러나 네가 만약 의로운 사람에게 죄짓지 말라고 경고해 그가 죄를 짓지 않으면 그는 경고를 받아들였으므로 반드시 살겠고 너도 네 목숨을 구할 것이다."
22 그리고 그곳에서 여호와께서 손을 내 위에 얹으시고 말씀하셨다. "일어나 들판으로 나가라. 내가 그곳에서 네게 말하겠다."
23 그래서 나는 일어나 들판으로 나갔다. 그러자 내가 그발 강 가에서 본 그 영광과 같은 여호와의 영광이 그곳에 있었다. 나는 땅에 엎드렸다.
24 그러자 여호와의 영이 내게 들어와 나를 일으켜 세우시고 내게 이야기하셨다. 그분이 내게 말씀하시기를 "네 집에 가서 안에서 문을 닫아라.
25 그리고 너 사람아, 그들이 너를 밧줄로 묶어 네가 그들에게 가지 못할 것이다.
26 게다가 내가 네 혀를 입천장에 달라붙게 할 것이니 그들이 반역하는 족속이라 할지라도 네가 벙어리가 돼 그들을 책망하지 못할 것이다.
27 그러나 내가 네게 이야기할 때 내가 네 입을 열 것이니 너는 그들에게 말하여라. '주 여호와가 이렇게 말한다.' 들을 사람은 듣게 하고 듣지 않으려 하는 사람은 듣지 말게 하여라. 그들은 반역하는 족속이기 때문이다."

[Ezekiel 3:1-27, NLT]
1 The voice said to me, "Son of man, eat what I am giving you—eat this scroll! Then go and give its message to the people of Israel."
2 So I opened my mouth, and he fed me the scroll.
3 "Fill your stomach with this," he said. And when I ate it, it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth.
4 Then he said, "Son of man, go to the people of Israel and give them my messages.
5 I am not sending you to a foreign people whose language you cannot understand.
6 No, I am not sending you to people with strange and difficult speech. If I did, they would listen!
7 But the people of Israel won't listen to you any more than they listen to me! For the whole lot of them are hard-hearted and stubborn.
8 But look, I have made you as obstinate and hard-hearted as they are.
9 I have made your forehead as hard as the hardest rock! So don't be afraid of them or fear their angry looks, even though they are rebels."
10 Then he added, "Son of man, let all my words sink deep into your own heart first. Listen to them carefully for yourself.
11 Then go to your people in exile and say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says!' Do this whether they listen to you or not."
12 Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard a loud rumbling sound behind me. (May the glory of the LORD be praised in his place!)
13 It was the sound of the wings of the living beings as they brushed against each other and the rumbling of their wheels beneath them.
14 The Spirit lifted me up and took me away. I went in bitterness and turmoil, but the LORD's hold on me was strong.
15 Then I came to the colony of Judean exiles in Tel-abib, beside the Kebar River. I was overwhelmed and sat among them for seven days.
16 After seven days the LORD gave me a message. He said,
17 "Son of man, I have appointed you as a watchman for Israel. Whenever you receive a message from me, warn people immediately.
18 If I warn the wicked, saying, 'You are under the penalty of death,' but you fail to deliver the warning, they will die in their sins. And I will hold you responsible for their deaths.
19 If you warn them and they refuse to repent and keep on sinning, they will die in their sins. But you will have saved yourself because you obeyed me.
20 "If righteous people turn away from their righteous behavior and ignore the obstacles I put in their way, they will die. And if you do not warn them, they will die in their sins. None of their righteous acts will be remembered, and I will hold you responsible for their deaths.
21 But if you warn righteous people not to sin and they listen to you and do not sin, they will live, and you will have saved yourself, too."
22 Then the LORD took hold of me and said, "Get up and go out into the valley, and I will speak to you there."
23 So I got up and went, and there I saw the glory of the LORD, just as I had seen in my first vision by the Kebar River. And I fell face down on the ground.
24 Then the Spirit came into me and set me on my feet. He spoke to me and said, "Go to your house and shut yourself in.
25 There, son of man, you will be tied with ropes so you cannot go out among the people.
26 And I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth so that you will be speechless and unable to rebuke them, for they are rebels.
27 But when I give you a message, I will loosen your tongue and let you speak. Then you will say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says!' Those who choose to listen will listen, but those who refuse will refuse, for they are rebels.






에스겔 선지자는 남유다가 바벨론에 멸망하기 7년 전에 바벨론 포로로 끌려와 있는 사람들에게 하나님의 말씀을 전하라는 계시를 받습니다. 하나님께 서는 에스겔에게 그들이 극상품 무화과, 새로운 백성이 되도록 그들의 죄악을 깨우치고 설득하라고 말씀하시면서 파수꾼의 사명과 책임을 감당하라고 하십니다. 그렇지 않으면 그 잘못을 에스겔에게서 찾겠다고 선언하십니다. 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하신 것은 백성들이 “이마가 굳고 마음이 굳어”(겔 3:7) 하나님의 말씀이 들리지 않는 상태였기 때문입니다.
우리 시대가 마치 에스겔이 처한 상황과 같을 수 있습니다. 하나님께 죄를 범해 멸망의 길로 나아가고 있으면서도 잘못을 깨닫지 못하고 하나님을 떠나 살아가고 있지는 않습니까. 이런 시대 가운데 우리는 분명히 하나님의 말씀을 전하는 파수꾼의 역할을 감당해야 합니다. 간절한 하나님의 마음을 헤아리고 사명을 감당해야 합니다. 사람들이 듣든지 아니 듣든지 주의 말씀을 전하는 일을 멈추어서는 안 됩니다.

에스겔 선지자는 하나님의 파수꾼으로 부름을 받습니다.
